Giant balloons are a big part of Christmas and holiday parades. Mike Johnson reporting for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on November 21, 2009 describes how thousands of people turn out to watch the Holiday Parade in Downtown Milwaukee.
The parade consisted of the usual bands and floats plus giant balloons highlighting the spectacular event. The giant balloons, floats and bands seem to bring out the best of spirits in people. Kids, young and old, cheer and sing and wave and all have smiles. The spectators wearing antlers, reindeer noses and Santa hats helped to create a very festive and fun atmosphere.
For a little while, maybe just a moment for some, all the hassles of daily life were forgotten and the Spirit of Thanksgiving and Christmas was real for all.
